Potential New Member,
We would like to thank you for your interest in becoming part of our great organization. Port Norris Fire Company is one of the most progressive Fire Dept’s in Cumberland County and being a member of this organization will give you a great sense of pride and distinction.
The fire service is one of the most diverse and challenging professions today. It is this diversity that inspires most men and women to enter the fire service. Imagine being trained to cope with situations which range from building fires to medical emergencies, and almost any imaginable emergency situation in between. This diversity coupled with the fact that these skills may be needed at any time of day or night, seven days a week, in any kind of weather and very often under potentially stressful and emotional circumstances contribute to our profession being personally rewarding. There is a sense of accomplishment after controlling a building fire, compassion for accident victims, and fulfillment in teaching children fire safety just to name a few.
To become a Port Norris Volunteer Firefighter you will need courage, dedication and a willingness to learn new skills and face new challenges. You will also need to have the time for training, meetings, emergency calls, maintenance of equipment, and other duties. The fire service is not for the meek or timid or for those who lose control during times of crisis. Our service is one which calls on its members to perform hot, sweaty, dirty, and strenuous work, often in uncertain and hazardous environments.
If you feel you have what it takes to meet these challenges then please read through the available jobs and their responsibilities that interest you so that we can match you up with a mentor to help guide you to becoming a Port Norris Volunteer Firefighter!!
